Day one: The Tiber

Welcome to my travel blog!  Since I had so much fun doing last years's Israel blog, I thought I would so my own personal one for the Theology IV trip to Rome.  After a very long flight with an ideally long layover in Paris (just under and hour and a half), I arrived in Rome around noon.  I and my travel mates got settled in, and then we had mass at the chapel for the residence where we are staying, located very close to St. Peter's.
Two photos from the roof terrace. Our front door is across the street

Sadly, by the time I got to St. Peter's, the line for entry was wrapped around the colonnades, so I will have to wait until tomrrow to go inside.  Despite this setback, I had a great time visiting a lot of the smaller churches aroudn St. Peter's (there are at least 6 that I walked past) and doing a loop around the Castel Sant' Angelo.  After dinner that took a slightly longer jaunt for gelato and to visit the Piazzo Navona.  And now I am very jet lagged and getting up early so I can see the inside of St. Peter's before going to Venice (being a deacon is awesome).
